Rob Kroeger, Natural Horseman and Foundation Trainer
Rooster at 18 months of age. He's at home with the herd, enjoying his life and growing mentally and physically. He's shown here on Valentine's Day 2020, handsome at 14 HH.
Raised on a farm in the Mutoko district of Zimbabwe, Rob grew up around horses and has been riding for sport, primarily polo cross, and for pleasure for most of his life. In 2002, Rob moved to Canada where he was introduced to natural horsemanship. Rob's initial learnings under Glen Stewart and Jonathan Field, as well as more recently Karen Rolf coupled with his life-long experience with horses, inspired Rob to start and develop his training business at Wareabouts Training Stables. He currently offers foundation training, development of pre started horses, halter training, ground manners, cross training, and winter riding and conditioning. He brings more than 40 years of experience with horses to his profession.
Rob's appreciation for the equine species, and his understanding of horses' unique personalities and temperaments, allow him to maximize the horse's success during training by means of individualized training programs. Rob's goal is to "teach the horse how to learn" through clear communication. Rob's patient and consistent approach to training, focused on the horse's individual needs, enables a positive and willing relationship between horse and handler.
CARVING OUT TIME TO ENJOY HIS OWN HORSES IS A CHALLENGE, BUT WELL WORTH IT. LIVING AT THE RANCH WITH ROB ARE ELVIS, JOKER, LADY (OWNED WITH DAWN SHAND) AND LADY'S 2018 COLT, ROOSTER.
Lady with Rooster, both enjoying the "lazy hazy days of summer" and abundant grass at Sharon Davis' place.
Rooster, now a yearling, has been growing into a handsome colt while summering at Fleetwood Ranch.
Elvis, running-bred Quarter Horse is, according to Rob, the fastest horse he's ever ridden. Elvis has competed in the Stock Horse Race at Millarville several times.
